Ace Hotel The Urban Hiptown
Speaking of boutique hotels, Ace
hotel New York designed by the eccentric husband and wife team Robin Standefer
and Stephen Alesch, founder of Roman and Williams Buildings and Interiors is right
on the top of my must visit list.
This hotel looks like the cool
downtown apartment of a rockstar who scoured the streets of Manhattan picking
up funky pieces of art and furniture and threw them together in this one space;
giving a grown up look with a touch of adolescence humour to the hotel. Rooms are
being decked out with SMEG fridges, turntable, Gibson guitars and vintage furniture;
perfect reminder that you are right next to the Theatre District.
This is hotel is full of character
and will be truly appreciated by those who covet the urban hipster cult
culture. It is raw, industrial, artistic, a little grungy and rather hip.
Definitely not for the faint hearted, but it is right up my street.
