You know that Autumn is in full swing when all the shop windows are filled with dresses of deep wine or cranberry colours. This is my favourite colour of all despite my love affair with bright yummy colours. There is something sultry and mysterious to this rich cranberry tone that is so cozy at the same time. Anything in this colour instantly has a very captivating allure to it, don't you think? It could be bias talking. :)
Be Brave
Today's board is inspired by October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. Coming from a family that has a long history of cancer, this is something that is close to my heart. Meals in my family consists heavily of antioxidants due to the strong cancer genetics that we all share. However, as a general rule of the thumb, prevention is better than cure; and being on top of your health checks are vital.
I have the utmost respect for those who have conquered and survived this sickness, the courage and strength they have -especially women given the context of this month; I am unsure myself if I will have it in me. To all women out there who are fighting and who have conquered this predicament; I salute you.
Reaching for Gold
As the first weekend of October approaches, a luxurious weekend reminiscing on the year that has past seems fitting. Not to mention, Christmas is lass than 80 days away! Can you believe it? What else is on the bucket list for 2013? I get a surge of emotions like this is the final sprint, the final hurdle, the final countdown. Gonna keep racing to the finish line, heading for gold!

Running in a Dream
How did the year fly pass me without me noticing? With 3 months left to the year, I catch myself in a dreamy, fantasy kind of mood. I reminisce about the past months and day dreaming about how the next few months will unfold. It is a rather surreal feeling, because I remember wanting to achieve so much this year, but time just slip by, sneaky fella! So it is full speed ahead to the finish line!
This photo-shoot discovered via my favourite blog the glamourai emotes my current sentiment perfectly.
What are you racing towards in the last quarter of two zero one three? Let's run! :)
Scarlet Heart
This year, World Heart Day shines the spotlight on heart disease and stroke affecting women and children; reminding us that heart disease is not just a men or grown up disease. A couple of years back, my beloved grandmother suffered from a stroke. Although, she thankfully survived it, she is never the same again. She lost tonnes of weight, her heart is a lot weaker and she is unable to cook for family reunions anymore.
Therefore, World Heart Day is a great day to remind us to keep active and eat healthy for a stronger heart to prevent this disease from prematurely robbing years off our lives. The World Heart Federation chose red as its campaign colour, which inspired today's board. Happy Weekend! Go for a run! :)
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
You've gotta admit that geometric patterns have been making waves this year; and you've got to admit that life will be boring and chaotic without these addictive symmetrical patterns. This weekend, I am obsessing with these diamond patterned, because diamonds are a girl's best friend and diamonds are forever!~
Happy Weekend!
Colonial Industrial Inpsired
Today Colonial Revival by
Design Sponge popped up on my Feedly reader. This trend follows on aptly from
the previous post about the enigma Fall brings about. After spending the weekend
watching the Emmy-winning series “The Innovators -The Men Who Built America”,
this theme definitely caught my interest. Learning how the country was taken through
industrialisation to modernism by a few revolutionary characters was inspiring.
However, the regal and industrial styling of the show was what really got me
hook. The old libraries, the steel, the dark
wood furniture and towards the end – opulence; so captivating and mysterious. When you take
these old elements and put a modern twist to them, a room becomes a contemporary space filled with character, personality and warmth. This refined industrial style that is put together but slightly deconstructed is reminiscent of like the
Ace Hotel New York. I find rooms that are too ‘new’ leaves me feeling cold and
impersonal, like living in a show room unit; don’t you think?

This too cool for cool apartment designed by Sarah Lavoine, the Paris interior design scene IT girl is bold, contemporary but effortlessly chic. Summer is over only if you let it.
Browsing through pictures from NYFW and notice that the palette is very monochromatic with plenty of neutrals. Looks a lot more like Fall 2013 than Spring 2014. What happened to the pastel and bright colours??
In desperation, I found a collection of pretty yummy colourful gems to feed my withdrawal needs. Who says colours is only for the sunny days, when it is grey and chilly, colours are even more necessary for to chase the gloom away, don't you think?

Autumn's Rustic Charm
I was never really that frilly girly girl with the pink bedroom, which when I was a kid was uncommon, leading to many unsightly outfit combination as I experiment about. However, seeking out ways to add a touch of masculinity to my wardrobe or interior had developed and refined over the years -thank God!
When I moved to the UK in September 2008 and purchased my first leather jacket, my life was complete. Till this day, it is my favourite wardrobe staple. An autumn outfit is the perfect time to bring the edginess up a notch with rugged leather and darker colours. Mango's fall look-book featuring Miranda Kerr does exactly that, and looking at pictures from NYFW 2013, this mix of hard and soft and play seems to be sticking around till Spring 2014 - which I shall celebrate in another post.
Inspired by this rustic femininity, I found some charming little gems that gives me a sense of homeliness and warmth to accompany the chilly autumn mornings. I want them all!

Pop Art: Do You Dare.
Pop art was an art movement rebelling against the traditions of fine art emerging around the mid-1950s from Britain and later in North America. This daring form of art was an expression of post war optimism in a youthful visual language. This art movement is often made up of popular imagery, rendered with a wit, colours and irony creating genius psychedelic pieces of art. Andy Warhol's work are probably the most recognisable with his rendition of the Campbell's Soup Can and Marilyn Monroe. Here's an awesome source to learn more about Andy Warhol and his extraordinary life.
I love pop art for its bold mishmash of colours. By now you will know that colours are my weakness, which is why I am defenceless towards the summer's neon trend. With the season transitioning into fall, pops of colours can still work, in fact, it pops better against a subdued or monochrome palette, creating interest, balance and personality as shown below; a modern pop art loft rendered by Dmitriy Schuka's. Of course the pink wall with the oversized comic pop art is my favourite bit and truly for the eclectic dare-devils. Oh and the neon pink vanity in the bathroom is just ingenious! If only this was an actual home instead of a interior rendering! I can't contain it, not enough exclamation marks can express it; I'm-just-so-in-love!

Danish Elegance. House Doctors A/W 2013
The Scandinavian countries have long been watched by the world for revolutionary designs. This clusters of old European kingdoms design in a way dictated by their surroundings, which is how the simple elegance of Scandinavian living came to life.
Art used to be for those who can afford decadence and opulence, however during the First World War the ideology was to allow art to be accessible to all - perhaps in the effort to alleviate the atrocity of the war. This cause designers to be efficient with their designs, using clean simple line for mass appeal; designing with survival instincts created an aesthetic that was minimalist and highly functional.
Till this day, Scandinavian designs are highly regarded, with Swedish's Ikea having the greatest crowd pull. Danish designers are equally impressive, which is why today's spotlight is on Danish interiors, House Doctors' Moments A/W 2013 collection, it just makes me want to own e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.
